Volunteers Needed for Salad Lunch & Staff Appreciation Week

The Hospitality Committee of Friends of Northwest PTO - with your help - will be supplying our amazing staff with a Salad Luncheon on Friday, April 20. Due to popular demand our PTO is bringing back SCREENAGERS GROWING UP IN THE DIGITAL AGE for an encore one night only showing April 26th 7pm followed by a panel discussion. Tickets can be found on and search for Screenagers in Charlotte. We are giving NWSA parents first crack at these tickets before announcing to the public on Thursday, March 22. Garden Workday - Canceled

UPDATE: Sadly, due to rain starting early, we think it's best to cancel our garden workday tomorrow. Our next workday is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 - fingers and toes crossed for good weather! NWSA March 14th Walk-Out Day

A message from our Principal Ms. Melody Sears: Parents, By now, you have all heard about the March 14th Walk-Out Day planned for all high school students across the nation to express sorrow over the Stoneman-Douglas High School shootings, and our student leadership wanted to also organize some activities concerning gun violence, as well. They have submitted a plan, and our administrative team has met about this. A copy of this plan has been sent to our zone office. We need to stress that this plan is for second block, tomorrow, after attendance has been taken. Letter from Our Principal - March

Hello, Northwest School of the Arts Community! Currently, our hearts are broken by the recent tragedy in south Florida. Our students have written some amazing letters to the students there, who returned to school only this week, and I have written words of encouragement to the principal. We have some procedures in place that are, admittedly, in need of tweaking, but students and parents have stopped by to thank us for locking doors and insisting on safety. I will be letting kids know every time we have a fire drill, now, and I am telling you parents that there will be a tornado drill at our school on March 7. NWSA Book Fair Mar 12-16

The Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the school Media Center March 12 - March 16; 8:45 AM - 4:30 PM. All proceeds go to support the Media Center.
