IF YOUR CHILD HAS ALREADY PASSED (OR PASSES) THEIR AUDITION /PORTFOLIO REVIEW BEFORE THE LOTTERY RUNS:

There are NEW instructions that differ from your NWSA audition “pass” letter.  Your child is still guaranteed a seat at NWSA but you must follow these instructions.

To keep the spot, you NOW MUST enter a CMS lottery application so the system can assign your child a code, based on their Arts Program. The Arts Programs are listed below.  Some programs encompass more than one Major. The application will require that you choose the program corresponding to their major. If your child passed more than one audition they should enter their first choice.  At school, that will be called their Primary Major.   High School students will still be able to have a Second Major.  When the lottery runs, the system will automatically assign your child a seat at our school in the program you select.

The online lottery application can be found at the top of the CMS website. You MUST do this to keep your spot at the school. The lottery closes February 14, but you should do this now as the attached page has the PIN number needed for the system.

If your child passed an audition in, you should select one of the following depending on their major at NWSA:

Dance - Dance @NWSA

Band/Orchestra/Piano - Instrumental Music @NWSA

Chorus - Choral Music @NWSA

Musical Theatre/Theatre - Theatre Arts @NWSA

Visual Arts - Visual Arts @NWSA

Technical Theatre/Costume - Theatre Tech @NWSA

IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT PASS AN AUDITION, THEY WILL BE ASSIGNED TO THEIR HOME SCHOOL AFTER THE LOTTERY RUNS.

If your child intends to audition, you must turn in an Audition Request as soon as possible.  It is late in the process and some areas have very limited opportunities for appointments.

PLEASE CALL SUSAN DONKLE AT THE SCHOOL, OR EMAIL THE SCHOOL AT nwsa.auditions@cms.k12.nc.us  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
