Below is your 2017-2018 Summer Reading Assignments for middle school students at Northwest School of the Arts. Please note, these assignments are required and students are expected to bring their completed assignments with them during the first week of school (in cases on the first day). Please find your assignment(s) below and read the documents carefully.

8th Grade Summer Reading Assignment
Book Assignment: Read Hiroshima (Mass Market Paperback) Edition by John Hersey.
Annotate each chapter of your book. For information about annotating, read the article “How and Why to Annotate a Book”. Please bring annotated books and assignments on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 day of school. Activities and assessments related to the text will span the first several weeks of the semester.
7th Grade Summer Reading Assignment
Book Assignment 1: Read Wonder by R. J. Palacio. When completed describe a precept and write one for you. During the start of school, a book discussion group will be used as a means of understanding.
Book Assignment 2: Read something from a classic author. Suggested authors could be but not limited to: Jack London; Mark Twain; Jules Verne; Rudyard Kipling; John Steinbeck; Edgar Allan Poe; Agatha Christie; Orson Wells; and William Faulkner.
7th Grade English Supply List:
