NWSA Cell Phone Policy
Studies have shown cell phone usage in the classroom not only affects the student using the device but also the teacher and entire classroom. Even if the phone is resting on the desk or in a book bag, not in use, it can still be a distraction to the student owner and their neighboring classmates.
Starting this 2018-2019 school year, NWSA will have middle school students "check-in" their cell phones at the beginning of class period to help reduce classroom distraction. NWSA needs your help to ensure this new cell phone policy is successful. Here are two ways you can help:
Please make this a conversation topic in your home this summer using the tips offered in the links below
NWSA needs funding support to purchase 18 Cell Phone Pocket Organizers to hold student cell phones safely while class is in session. Please donate here >> UPDATE: Thanks to your support, this project has been fully funded!
Digital Citizenship starts at home. NWSA wants to remind all middle school parents and students that it is illegal for students under the age of 13 to own social media accounts of any kind. See below for a parent guide, sample cell phone contracts, and other helpful resources.
