Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools offers an array of summer programming options.
Programs at the high school level include:
1. Graduating seniors completing outstanding graduation requirements before June 30. This option can be both virtual and in-person. Transportation will not be provided.
2. Credit Recovery Courses for Rising 10th, 11th, and 12th through Edgenuity. This option is virtual.
3. Summer Prep Academy - S.P.A. (Camp CMS) for Rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. This option is in-person.
The following information provides details about the high school Summer Prep Academy. Additional information about options 1 or 2 are forthcoming from your school.
The high school Summer Prep Academy is a FREE six-week IN PERSON summer learning and enrichment program for rising 9th-12th grade students. Learning will take place in an engaging way and will include social emotional learning, reading, math, and science through EOC courses, physical activity, and electives.
Who Is Eligible for Camp CMS?
The Summer Prep Academy is an in-person summer program open to rising 9th-12th grade students. However, the district is required to prioritize students in need of continued instruction, students with disabilities, and students newly learning English.
High school students should register for IN PERSON Summer Prep Academy for one of the following reasons:
A student is interested in taking a NEW course for credit.
A student is interested in taking an elective course for credit. Courses offered will be determined by the school.
A student is interested in taking an EOC course (NC Math I, NC Math 3, English II, and Biology) or NC Math 2 to replace a failing grade.
6-Week Program Dates and Times
Monday - Thursday each week (no Fridays)
June 14 - July 2
July 12- July 29
***NO Summer Prep Academy the week of July 5th - 9th***
The full day program will be from 7:15am - 2:15pm. Students may attend a partial or full day.
