Welcome Sarah Provencal!

We would like to welcome our new Theatre Teacher: Sarah Provencal. Sarah Provencal is a director, teacher, and actor. She earned her MFA in Theatre Pedagogy (Directing emphasis) at Virginia Commonwealth University, her BA in Theatre/English at SUNY Geneseo, and has worked and trained abroad in London, England and Spoleto, Italy. She is proud to have trained with Anne Bogart on the Viewpoints technique- once in NYC and once in Italy. She also has extensive training in the field of intimacy choreography and creating consent-based theatrical spaces.

In Charlotte, she has directed for Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte, Three Bone Theatre, Warehouse PAC, Shakespeare Carolina, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, and created devised theatre with Taproot Ensemble. She regularly facilitates Theatre of the Oppressed workshops with students, professors, and professionals—both on college campuses and at national conferences. As an educator, she has been working in academia as an Adjunct Professor of Theatre for the past decade, most recently at Winthrop University, where she has spent the past 8 years teaching courses in directing, acting, and script analysis, as well as managing the box office. She also works as a Teaching Artist at Children’s Theatre of Charlotte. Sarah is so excited to begin this new adventure at Northwest School of the Arts!
